Each of ovoid shape with ram-masks mounts surmounted by poodles, the pierced and stiff-leaf collar and domed lid surmounted by a berried finial, on a waisted and channelled foliate circular base with beaded collar and stepped white marble plinth on turned feet, the ungilt pierced covers possibly replaced, with filled hole to one quartz

An identical pair of vases of same size but with grey marble plinths was sold at Rudolph Lepke, Berlin, 2 April 1930, lots 462-463. A pair of open vases with identically-cast poodles fitted as handles, from the property of the Marchioness Conyngham, 36 Belgrave Square and the Mound, Ascot, was sold in these Rooms, 4 May 1908, lot 300.
