Although apparently belonging to the French Pillar candlestick group, it is clear from an examination of the constuction, which differs dramatically from the usual French methods of the period, that this pair was, indeed, made in Germany. This claim is further corroborated by the existence of other similar candlesticks bearing Nuremberg makers' marks.
