Medium brown patina with brassy high points; hole on sole of proper right foot; end of the left foot lacking; nicks.

The life-size antique bronze of the Spinario, now in the Capitoline Museum, Rome, was extremely highly thought of during the Renaissance, and with the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius, one of the first antique models to be copied.
