The son and pupil of Pietro Antonio Rovedata (active Trent 1561-70), Giovanni Battista is first recorded in a bill for work in the church of San Pietro, Trent in 1601. After the death of his father, Rovedata returned to Verona, where he worked in the Convent of San Bernardino, and in 1620 received a commission for the Palazzo del Priore, Verona. He is thought to have worked with Ligozzi and Fra Semplice in Verona. Later in his life, he travelled to Venice, although his work from that period is not known to have survived.
