Little is known about Padovanino's early training, though Boschini (1674) records that he studied by copying the frescoes of Titian in the Scuola do San Antonio, Padua. Although the influence of Titian is dominant throughout Padovanino's career, he responded to the work of other Venetian artists when he moved to Venice circa 1614. This is illustrated by this pair of Allegories which compare with Veronese's Putto with two dogs by a laurel tree in the Alte Pinakothek in Munich (T. Pignatti and F. Pedrocco, Veronese, Milan, 1995, II, p. 463, no. 358, illustrated).
