Lot Essay

V.O. Perel'man was born in Saratov circa 1870 and moved to Paris in 1890s where he studied under J.-A. Engelbert. Concentrating on portraits he exhibited at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1900 where he won the silver medal for sculpture, and also exhibited in Russia. He died in Paris in April 1922.
