A fine example of enamel work of the period, this box is most probably by Fedor Rckert, who is known to have undertaken commissions for the house of Fabergé. The en-plain plaque is after a painting by Sergei Sergeevich Solomko (1867-1938), a well-known watercolourist and illustrator. He worked for the periodical Niva and illustrated numerous stories. In 1910 he settled in Paris where he died.
