A Scottish regency mahogany longcase clock
J. Russell, Falkirk; first quarter 19th century
The ebony line-inlaid case on small bracket feet supporting a rectangular plinth with concave moulding to the trunk with twist ¼-columns flanking the rectangular trunk door, the hood with simple fluted pillasters with roundel terminals flanking the dial and supporting the breakarch top with carved wood cresting and ball finial, the circular painted Roman dial signed J. Russell, Falkirk Watch & Clock Maker to H.R.H. The Prince Regent, pierced steel hands, subsidiary rings for seconds and calendar, the four pillar movement with anchor escapement, rack hour strike on bell with passing hour strike on a smaller bell
