The case on moulded plinth with rectangular trunk door and flat top hood, glazed circular silvered regulator dial signed Melvill London with blued steel hands, wound through the centre of the hour hand, the four pillar movement with maintaining power and anchor escapement; with brass rod pendulum and flattened oval lead weight with intergral pulley

Lot Essay

The present clock is possibly by John Melvill(e) of Chelsea and Clerkenwell and working between 1781-1806.
True miniature longcase clocks or regulators are extremely rare
