A Dutch walnut longcase clock
Fromanteel & Clarke; first quarter 18th century
The case with oval lenticle to rectangular trunk door, concave throat moulding beneath the hood with altered pilasters with later gilt-metal caps supporting the pediment surmounted by an intricately carved cresting, the 11 in. sq. dial signed Fromanteel & Clarke on the silvered Roman chapter ring with pierced blued steel hands, the finely matted centre with subsidiary silvered seconds ring, silvered alarm disc to the centre, ringed winding holes and decorated calendar aperture with date, day of week and its deity, latches to the dial feet and to the five ringed pillars, inside countwheel strike on bell and with separate sub-assembly to the right side of the plates for the alarm, anchor escapement
