The case of rectangular form with glazed trunk door with key lock to the side, the engraved silvered dial stamped S H, outer black-filled Arabic chapters 1-12, inner concentric lead-filled ring 13-24, black painted hands, subsidiary seconds, the four pillar movement with deadbeat escapement with adjustable steel pallets of continental form with twin trains with brass-cased weights and later steel-rod pendulum with twin brass jar weights to the bob and spring suspended to the backboard bracket, the pendulum swinging against the beatscale attatched to the base of the backboard, the second weight-driven train driving the electrical contact system distributing signals to subsidiary dials, the wheel rotating with the advance of time, the specific contact time(s) made by inserting small rods in the appropriate holes
