CATULLUS, TIBULLUS and PROPERTIUS. Opera. Birmingham: John Baskerville, 1772. 4 (295 x 235mm). 1 cancel, H3 a cancellandum. Near-contemporary "Etruscan" calf, possibly by Edwards of Halifax, covers with gilt outer metope and pentaglyph roll enclosing a stained border of classical palmettes, gilt small palmette roll and central speckled calf panel with central oval containing a centrally-placed stained urn, the spine in six compartments with double raised bands, green morocco lettering-piece in the second, the others with repeated stained and gilt decoration, g.e. (rebacked, original spine laid down). Provenance: Bibliotheca Liddelliana (early ink ownership stamp). Gaskell 44; and two other works from the Baskerville Press.
