Contemporary red French morocco, large gilt dentelle on covers with central arms of Louis XIV (Olivier 2494 no.7), spine gilt in compartments, gilt turn-ins, g.e. (bumped).
An early edition from the presses of the Imprimerie Impriale which had been founded just two years earlier by Cardinal Richelieu.
