Type: 1:112r and 112 Greek. 2- to 7-line initial spaces. (First quire rehinged, marginal tear repaired, two blank corners renewed, small stain at hinge of last few leaves.) 18th-century French red morocco, triple gilt fillet around sides, gilt spine in compartments, black leather lettering-pieces in three, marbled endpapers, gilt edges. Provenance: a few contemporary annotations; collation note in French signed (?)SMGC; George Watson Taylor (pencilled ascription in Amherst's hand, sale Evans 20 March and 14 April 1823); Augustus, Duke of Sussex (1773-1843, bookplate, sale 22 April 1845); William Amherst, 1st Baron Amherst of Hackney (1835-1909, sale Sotheby's 24 March 1909, where the binding was tentatively ascribed to Derome and Crevenna posited as a previous owner, lot 785, 5.15 to Sotheran's); Viscount Mersey (Bignor Park, booklabel).
