FIRST ILLUSTRATED EDITION OF THE "FIRST MODERN HISTORY OF ART"...The book first appeared in Florence in 1550 in two volumes with one hundred and thirty-three lives: but the 1568 edition in three volumes, bringing the biographies up to 1567, is the first complete one, with one hundred and sixty-one lives, and the first to be illustrated with woodcut portraits. It also contains an autobiography and a valuable treatise on technical methods employed in the arts" (PMM 88).
