(Lacks half-titles to vols.II-IV and two final blanks in vol.IV, vol.I with small tear to lower blank margin of G6, vol.III with rust-hole in G5 affecting two characters, some general browning and spotting.) Contemporary russet half roan, spines gilt in five compartments with wide raised bands, olive morocco lettering-pieces in the second and fourth compartments (slight fading and scuffing to the spines, corners rubbed). Provenance: Anthony, 7th Earl of Shaftesbury (armorial bookplate, before 1851 when styled Baron Ashley).
