Late-18th century blue straight-grained morocco gilt, covers with wide decorative border made up from various roll-tools and cornerpieces, the spine in seven compartments with double raised bands, lettered in one and at the foot of the spine, the others with an overall lattice-work seme built up of a wavy-line roll, gilt turn-ins, g.e. Provenance: Andrew Burnaby, Baggrave Hall, Leics. (d.1812, extensive inscription, dated 1804, noting the gift of the book from Anne Morris of Greenwich, bookplate).
A fine large copy of the subscriber's issue on fine paper (with Strassburg bend watermark). The work was issued simultaneously in a trade issue, the present issue and another issue on superfine paper. Foxon I, p.641.
