The gun is a fascinating example of an early hammerless action but one, sadly, that had an extremely short-lived existence. A Money-Walker rifle was included in the final ten contenders considered by the Select Committee on Breech Loading Small Arms in 1868 for acceptance by the British Army but it failed and the Martini-Henry went on to become standard Army issue for many years. Most examples of the Money-Walker appear to have been rifles
