"Quinn's bust of 'Louis XVI' and 'Marie Antoinette', and of 'Dr. Pangloss' (a character from 'Candide'), rather than modelled in clay, was made from bread dough and subsequently baked. With each of these works, the changes the dough undergoes as it is baked distances the artists from the final outcome. The sculptures enter the world as living things growing and displaying themselves quite autonomously, with their creator relegated to a back seat, another spectator of the artwork." (D.
