Organism (Indian Yellow/Green Lake)

As maps of human microscopic physiology, Francis's paintings emphasise the distance, created by technological apparatus, that separates us from our own bodies. They question our relationship to the physical world through an examination of our own foreign cellular structures. They are staged in the act of evolving, a single moment in an unending osmosis.
