HOOVER, HERBERT, President. Typed letter signed, New York, 16 February 1940. 1 page, 4to, handsomely framed and matted with a portrait of Hoover. With the United States entry into World War II after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor Hoover became very much involved in the war effort, as chairman of relief organizations for Poland, Belgium, and Finland. Here, Hoover thanks an active supporter: "I do want you to know how deeply all of us appreciate your efforts in behalf of the highly successful Cabaret held at the Waldorf for the benefit of the Finnish Relief Fund. This country has not seen for many years such a generous outpouring of sympathy to a nation as that which is now being give to the Finnish people. Your work has helped us to translate this into actual material aid."
