MORSE, SAMUEL F.B. Autograph letter signed ("Sam. F.B. Morse") to Catherine Pattison, New York, 3 April 1841. 1 pages, 4to, integral autograph address panel, address leaf torn at seal. Morse wonders: "What has become of my amiable Troy friends?" Having had no correspondence with Catherine for some time, Morse explains his own silence: "I have myself been in many troubles in various shapes, which have kept me secluded for two years past...Immersed in studies, and scientific experiment I have had no time to visit my nearest, much less to correspond with my absent friends." Having heard that Catherine has had her portrait painted, he continues: "Do let me see you in picture if I may not see you in reality, and therefore do consent to let your portrait come to N. York...to be placed upon the walls of our splendid Exhibition rooms."
