Please note that the subject depicted in these two panels are part of the fable of Cupid and Psyche. They show the preamble to the story of Psyche, with the old woman telling the tale, and the two sisters of Psyche being married to kings. The compositions derive from the series of prints by the Master of the Die (active c.1532).
