The letter explains to Bacon the appearance of Buffalo Bill during the event that gained him the medal of honor. The letter states, Col. Cody was dressed in buckskin pants, red flannel shirt, mocasins and broad brimmed slouch hat. The gun he carried was of the old Springfield type like the soldiers but longer and he also carried a Colt's revolver and knife. He rode his famous horse Powder Face, a beautiful buckskin horse with long white mane and tail. The letter is on traditonal Buffalo Bill's Wild West stationary, signed by both men, W.F. Cody and L. E. Decker.
