TWO PHOTOGRAPHS OF SITTING BULL AND CHIEF JOSEPH
A sepia-toned image of Sitting Bull, photographer unknown. A half- length, profile of the chief, seated with hands on thighs, holding his peace pipe in one hand. Together with a sepia-toned photograph of Chief Joseph, taken by David Frances Barry, with notations on photographer's mount which read: Nez Perz Chief Joseph (Page 21). The image features Chief Joseph standing in a small grassy area, wearing a fringed shirt, long breech cloth, numerous white bead necklaces, and a wide-brimmed hat. Many American Indians and tipis appear in the background.--5 x 4 and 10 x 8 in. (2)
