A CALIFORNIA SPADE BIT

A circa late 20th century iron bit, hallmarked "EG* MAGDALENA SONORA" on the inside cheekpiece. The Santa Barbara style, silver inlaid cheekpieces are engraved in a foliage motif, the centers are open, surrounded with a teardrops. The bit is secured with slobber chains, and the mouthpiece a classic Spanish spade.
Overall bit length: 8 in. Mouthpiece: 3 in.
