RAILROAD PASS FOR GENERAL CUSTER AND MRS. CUSTER
A rare complimentary railroad pass given to General and Mrs. Custer in the summer of 1870, during their stay at Fort Hays. Engraved in red ink and featuring the state seals of Kansas and Colorado Territory, this one year pass bears the following information: Genl. G.A. Custer and Wife Complimentary. Signed by A. Anderson, General Superintendent, this rail pass was issued when Custer his family, and his regiment, including the 7th Cavalry, were based at Fort Riley, Kansas.
