"While there are certain stylistic similarities among Crow women's beaded robes, they also exhibit remarkable variation, a testimony to the vitality of this artistic tradition. Their common characteristics include parallel beaded stripes that run horizontally across a full hide; vertical color panels to further divide the central design area; the use of light blue beads; and the incorporation of small areas and beads of contrasting colors to divide the central color areas and to finish the outer edges of the design" (Merritt, 1988, p. 41).
