the manuscript letter on a single folded sheet of White Star Line Titanic stationary; the author writes ...I went to the ship to see him off. Oh dear it was lovely. How I wished I was going with him, it was just like a Palace, everywhere was so lovely. I fell in love with the little cabins...Tom was very down hearted when it came time for us to part he was upset, he will feel it leaving me, but still it will soon pass and we shall be together again., the full sheet -- 10 x 8in. (25 x 20cm.); together with original White Star Line envelope (stamp and most of post mark torn off), the envelope -- 5¼ x 3¼in. (13 x 8cm.)

Lot Essay

The author, one Marie (neé Staples) was writing to Mr B. Staples, her brother, the father of the vendor. The Tom referred to was her first husband and did not survive the tragedy
