Lot Essay

The ferry S.S. Amsterdam was built in 1950 by John Brown & Co. Ltd and served between 1950 and 1979 on the Harwich-Hook of Holland service. Between 1983-1987 the ship was used as a hotel in Turkey where she eventually sank in Fethiye Port. This escutcheon was mounted in the lobby of her First Class A-deck.
