Lot Essay

The auxiliary steamer Evadne was built at Stockton for Hornstedt & Garthorne of Hull in 1869. Registered at 1,031 tons gross, she measured 220 feet in length with a 30 foot beam and was originally engined by Thompson, Boyd of Newcastle prior to having new engines by Earle's of Hull fitted in 1875.
