Details
A late Charles II ascribed, West Country lace-back trefid spoon,
similarly decorated on the terminal and pricked "I.S 1683 T.B", stamped on the back of the stem with "tau-n-tun" mark and a small cinquefoil, (incuse) struck twice, possibly by Thomas Dare (II) Taunton circa 1683 - 19cm long, 1.5oz.

Kent, West Country Spoons and their Makers pp.83 where Kent notes interestingly enough, "In June 1685 Dare who had been made Paymaster-General, came over to Lyme Regis with the Duke of Monmouth, but soon lost his life in an affray with Andrew Fletcher, a Cavalry officer over a horse which Dare had 'liberated'.
