An unusual band sampler by Elizbeath Coker [sic] 1728 embroidered in fresh coloured silks, the upper half with bands of alphabets and numerals, worked mainly in Algerian eye and cross stitch, interspersed with rows of dogs, rabbits and figures, the lower half with "The Lord's Prayer" in French within a frame of stylised carnations, the bottom panel with linked lobed cartouches in green, blue, yellow, red and ivory silks in a drawn threadwork stitch--10½ x 18in.
