A pair of Japanese graduating brown and gold lacquer rectangular boxes and covers
decorated in hiramakie, takamakie, nashiji and kirigane with pavilions set among pine and rockwork in mountainous river landscapes, the upper sections with kiku sprays and foliage, the interiors with pine issuing from rockwork on nashiji grounds, metal handles -- 10½in. (26.6cms) and 15½in. (39.4cms) long, 19th century, (some damages and old wear).
