with turned mahogany spindle, cylinder end-caps and crank on tapered columns, horsehair friction pad on pivoted arm with adjusting screw and large mahogany baseboard -- 20¾in. (53cm.) square, early 19th century (lacking glass cylinder); and a contact set by Newton, 3 Fleet Street with two (of three) glass standards (one cracked) in boxwood plinths with brass ball-and-socket mountings for contact rods, two glass-handled contact rods and mahogany base with Newton plaque -- 13½in.
