Lot Essay
Bloch's Photo-Cravate camera was first shown to the Sociéte Franaise de Photographie on 5 December 1890. It was also the subject of British patent 12,766 of 14 August 1890.
Another example serial numbered 1005 was sold in Cameras and Photographic Equipment. The Property of a French Collector, 17 January 1996, lot 430. That camera shows minor variations in construction. An incomplete example, number 232, was sold in Cameras and Optical Toys, 6 March 1997, lot 202a. Camera number 545 was offered in Historical Cameras including the Ken Crane Collection, 13 May 1998, lot 118. George Eastman House, described by Lothrop (1973) has camera number 1061. This example is un-numbered.
