QUEEN MARY (1867-1953)
Ten autograph letters signed ("Victoria Mary") and ("Mary of Teck") as Princess of Teck and Duchess of York, to Mrs Richards, mother of Mrs Craigie (John Oliver Hobbes), the novelist, who is mentioned in one of the letters, 26 pp., 8° and small 8°, Richmond, St James's Palace, and Sandringham, 1887-1901. With eight original envelopes.

A delightful series of letters, mentioning her children, thanking for personal gifts, for donations to charitable organisations, arranging a visit, etc. "How very kind of you to send my baby a present" [15 May 1900]; "My warmest thanks for these beautiful books -- so charmingly illustrated too. The mince pies are excellent"; "I am so grateful for the 30/- I received this morning in aid of the Children's Hospital"; "Edward has grown very much I think & the baby is a big boy [George VI]" [6 April 1896]; "I write this line to tell you how much we hope that you, Mr Richards & Mrs Craigie will come [here on Friday]"

With three black and white photographs of Queen Mary at the London Hospital, a facsimile letter from Queen Mary to those working at the hospital, two Christmas cards from the hospital depicting Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth as Patrons and a royal postcard. (10)
