Having examined reproductions of her daughter's work, he advises that her style needs developing. He says that she is skilled as a portrait painter, "pour les choses de caractére", commenting that her depiction of hands is "remarquables" considering her relatively small output of work. He agrees that it is a positive step that she is interested in being tutored by a professor as ultimately the responsibility for improvement lies with the individual.
