An early 19th-Century pasteboard and card armillary sphere, unsigned and undated, but probably by Félix Delamarche, with gilded sun ball, the earth arranged to rotate via a pulley, the moon represented by a cardboard disc on a wire arm, with concentric circles representing Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn printed with information pertainng to their path around the sun and relative diameters, the Zodiac circle printed with the names, symbols and figures for the houses of the Zodiac (detached), delicately coloured and edged in red (some old abrasions and paper loss), raised on an inverted baluster-shaped support and turned plinth base (worm damage) -- 21in. (53.4cm.) high
