undated, signed Sckhardt's STERNKARTE GIESSEN Emil Roth, the maroon leather sleeve backed with green leather, an eight-pointed star fixed to the reverse for revolving the star map, the central disc labelled around the edge in hours and minutes and details of the sun's rising and setting throughout the year, the revolving map showing the sky of the Northern Hemisphere, the equatorial graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days and labelled with the months and symbols for the houses of the Zodiac, the constellations labelled in German, the general areas demarcated in dotted outline, the stars shown to five orders of magnitude and labelled with Greek characters, the border of the disc aligning with the sleeve's graduations and graduated in days and showing the names of the months (some abrasions around the pole) -- 16¼in.
