A 12-inch (30.5cm.) diameter terrestrial globe made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores with two polar calottes, the equatorial graduated in dgrees, the ecliptic graduated in days and showing symbols for the houses of the Zodiac, the oceans with AN IMPROVED ANALEMMA, and marked with the voyages of Captains Cook, Clerke, La Roche and others, with dates of points reached and other historical information (such as Sea Weed seen in southern Pacific), the continents with various nations outlined in red or green, and showing mountains and rivers, New Zealand labelled EAHEI NOMAUWE and TAVAI POENAMOO, Tasmania labelled VAN DIEMEN'S l. (much detail obscured by old varnish and old abrasions, loss of paper to Antarctic), engraved brass hour ring and meridian circle (blackened), the papered horizon ring (very worn) with four supports to carved and turned pillar with splayed tripod feet -- 24¾in.
