The stamp I Bancroft is listed under Joseph Bancroft cabinet-maker (1804-37), of Liverpool, however, a John Bancroft (1781-1825) of Salford, Lancashire, who is specifically a chairmaker is also recorded and this stamp could refer to him, The Dictionary of English Furniture Makers 1660-1840
