A pair of Anglo-Chinese paintings
in oil on canvas, one depicting a junk with numerous people on board before a quayside with figures in sampans and on the steps of a gateway leading to pavilions set on a tree-strewn hillside, further buildings visible on the far bank before distant mountains; the other with a pagoda set beside two pavilions on a rocky, tree-strewn bank, figures in junks and smaller boats to the foreground, a wooded bank before distant mountains to the right -- 21½in. x 33in. (54.5cms x 84cms), signed, 19th century, wood frames, (Light wear and retouching, otherwise in good condition).
