Xie Zhiguang (1900-1970), a scroll in ink and colour on paper depicting a boat in a mountainous, pine-strewn river landscape -- 27in. x 12½in. (68.5cms x 31.8cms), signed Zhiguang, sealed.
Zie Zhiguang was born in Yuyao in Zhajiang Province. He graduated from the Shanghai Art Academy and studied Western Painting. After 1949 he accepted a post at the Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy. His subject matter raned from landscapes, birds and flowers to figures and animals. His works have been published on varous occasions and are internationally collected.
