A Japanese wood and ivory hexagonal zushi
with silver mounts, the exterior carved with panels of Tennin and arhats among clouds bordering eight panels carved with various Buddhist deities, attendants, elephants, kirin and legendary figures among trees and clouds above breaking waves, fitted with two drawers at the front, the interior with four panels of warriors flanking a shrine with two columns carved with dragons before a central seated Buddha and two standing deities with lotus sprays, and a further model of Kannon and two deities before them, below shaped panels of further arhats and coiled dragons, with wood cover and stand carved with dragons and terrapins among pine and waves -- 16¼.in (41.3cm) high, the Buddha signed on a red lacquer tablet and inscribed with lines of calligraphy, (one small panel missing from back, old wear).
