A Chinese lacquered and gilt-bronze model of a seated Maitreya
wearing a plain flattened headdress, in relaxed posture with the right leg crossing the left, the left hand resting on his lap, the right raised to his face, the upper part of the body unclothed, the folds of the robes from the waist covering the pedastal base -- 11.in (27.9cm) high, Ming Dynasty, (flaking of lacquer, wear).
Modelled after Korean examples of the 6th/7th Century.
