A French gilt-brass grande sonnerie carriage clock with alarm

The rectangular case mounted with with leaf and flower spandrels to sides centred by flowerhead bosses, with fishscale cast handle and on bun feet, the sliding front glass supported by a sprung hinge to the base, with solid rear door, the silvered dial with Roman chapter ring, engine-turned centre with recessed alarm disc, with front-winding holes and blued moon hands, signed below L. Mallet Horloger de S.A.R. M.gr le Duc d'Orlean A PARIS, the triple barrel movement with vertically positioned balance wheel with cylinder escapement, rack-work planted on the backplate, with strike and pull trip repeat on two bells, with full quarters strike and repeat on the hour, sub-assembly pull wind alarm on further bell below, strike selection lever to underside of case
