A Swiss silvered brass and enamel-mounted striking and repeating miniature carriage clock
retailed by marcus & co l.d, bombay & poona. late 19th century
The anglaise riche style case with reeded columns, mounted to sides and rear door with polychrome enamel panels, those to the side depicting girls fetching water from a well, one being enticed by amorini and the other being wooed by a lover leaning over the wall behind her, the rear panel depicting a girl alone in a woodland glade with water jar, the dial with Roman chapter ring and retail signature MARCUS & CO L.D. BOMBAY & POONA, with bucolic scene below of two lovers playing a flute, the twin barrel movement with strike barrel to the underside wound through base and going barrel to the centre, with silvered platform to bimetallic balance with lever escapement, strike/repeat on gong to the backplate; with two associated keys
