A French giant gilt-brass and porcelain-mounted striking rococo carriage clock, on stand
H. Rochat, Paris, no.736. circa 1870
Modelled with nereids and tritons supporting the rocaille case cast with amorini amongst swags of flowers and grapes, the foliate cast handle hinged on Neptune masks above a glazed escapement viewing aperture, the side panels painted in the Sèvres style with reserves of flowers within foliate gilt borders on a blue ground, the conforming stand on dolphin feet, the white enamel Roman dial with blued spade hands, the twin barrel movement with Jules type bridged gilt lever platform with cut bimetallic balance, strike on bell, the backplate signed H. Rochat Paris and numbered 756
