Volumes I-VI, small 8°, contemporary calf, wide roll tool border in gilt and blind, flat spines with lettering-pieces and decorative labels in contrasting black calf (joints rubbed but sound, a few labels slightly chipped), marbled endpapers and edges.
CHAUCER, Geoffrey. The Canterbury Tales, edited by Thomas Tyrwhitt, London: William Pickering, 1830. 6 volumes, 8°, half titles, engraved frontispiece after T. Stothard, contemporary calf, sides with single gilt fillet and crest of the Cowley Powles family, gilt panelled spines with contrasting morocco lettering-pieces (joints a little rubbed and tender, some scuff marks), marbled edges. Provenance: Anna Hills, book label; R. Cowley Powles, armorial bookplate.
